Hornets aim for Record Crowd with Coops Fortnight
Rochdale Hornets, the only supporter owned club in professional rugby league will be hosting its second Cooperative Day on Sunday July 10th and is encouraging coop members and rugby league supporters alike to turn out as Hornets aim to draw a record crowd of 10,000 to the game.
The event is a celebration of the cooperative values that Hornets shares with a number of businesses across the UK and further afield and will bring to an end the country wide celebration of Coop Fortnight. The event will also be supporting Mencap and for every ticket sold a donation will be made to the charity.
There will be entertainment throughout the afternoon and a chance to discover what cooperatives are all about, culminating in the main event when Hornets take on Workington Town in a crunch Championship One fixture at 3.00pm at Hornets home ground, Spotland Stadium.
The match will this year be sponsored by Supporters Direct, the umbrella organisation for supporters trusts in the UK and across Europe and Laura Harrison, Rugby League Development Manager said of the event: “Hornets are a fine example of how supporter ownership can work in rugby league and they’ve really embraced the cooperative values that all of our trusts share. It should be a great event.”
Tickets are priced at just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
